How All-on-4 Dental Implants Work

This treatment includes inserting four implants on one or both rows of teeth. Temporary teeth are attached until your permanent set is ready. This gives your jawbone and gums time to heal and fuse with the titanium posts that serve as tooth roots. After healing, you receive your permanent dental implants. They are secured into the mouth onto the post and will be there forever. These will be your new teeth.

The post is made from titanium or zirconia, either of which will fuse into the jawbone. The framework that supports the arch is made from either metal or zirconia. The arch is made of either zirconia, acrylic, or porcelain.

The Procedure of All-on-4 Dental Implants

Step 1

This treatment will require several appointments, even though the actual procedure of installing a row of teeth is performed in a single appointment. You will first need an exam with our dentist to assess all your dental issues. Treatment may be required to address some or all of those before proceeding with an All-on-4 treatment.

Step 2

Teeth may need to be removed and then healing must happen. Some patients need bone grafts, and those take between three and six months to heal.

Step 3

Once the posts are inserted, our dental team at Versante Dental monitors progress in the posts fusing with the jawbone. When that is complete, we can install your permanent teeth crafted and customized for you.

Step 4

Some dentists will install both rows in a single appointment, but the conservative approach is to install one row at a time over two appointments.

Maintaining Your All-on-4 Dental Implants

Maintaining All-on-4 dental implants is similar to caring for your own natural teeth. You will need a special toothpaste, but you continue to brush twice a day, floss, and see your dentist. You can eat as you wish. We advise you to refrain from bad habits like chewing on pencils or biting nails, as those can damage teeth, whether natural or prosthetic.
